  • Understanding of use of equipment safely for technology purposes
  • Install, maintain and upgrade hardware or infrastructure in areas of specialisation
  • Identify problem solving techniques and when and how to apply
  • Fundamental understanding of Computer Technology Principles

Upon successful completion of the course, the learner will:

  • Communicate effectively with fellow IT staff and users of information systems
  • Demonstrate an understanding of different types of computer systems and the use of computer technology in business
  • Demonstrate an understanding of problem-solving techniques and how to apply them in a technical environment

  • Select and use material and equipment safely for technology purposes
  • Work effectively as a team member within a support team
  • Carry out, under supervision, a small size task to demonstrate knowledge of techniques and skills needed in or more of the following areas of specialisation:
    • Hardware and Infrastructure Support for Personal Computers
    • Hardware and Infrastructure Support for Office Products
    • Data Communications Network Support

Assessment

  • Completion of Portfolio of Evidence, which will be assessed, moderated and verified by MICT (Media Information, Communication Technology) SETA
  • Certificate of Competence will be issued by MICT to competent learners
